SAM4 setup tool
The next step of SAM4's installation is to use the SAM4 setup tool to verify if the gateway and DAQ has been installed correctly and if it can connect to the Samotics cloud. The SAM4 setup tool is meant for installation optimization, configuration, and troubleshooting. Moreover, it can be used to set up non-4G connections via WiFi or ethernet.
The setup tool is only accessible through a direct, local connection via a laptop.

Accessing the SAM4 setup tool
In order to access the SAM4 setup tool, take the following steps:
1. Setup your laptop to airplane mode
Click on the Wi-Fi on the bottom right of your screen
Click on "Airplane mode"
Make sure no other ethernet cables are connected to the laptop
2. Connect a laptop to the LAN port of the Switch
3. On your laptop, open a web browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1. This will open the SAM4 setup tool login page.
Notice In case of a DAQ reboot, the SAM4 setup tool may require a few minutes to load.
4. On a first login a password will be set up for that gateway.
Notice Please make sure you store your password in a place where you can access it easily!
5. After inputting your password and repeating it press “Set Password”
6. Input the password again to log in
Note In case you forget your password, please contact your technical onboarding specialist or reach out to onboarding-support@samotics.com to ask for a password reset token. You can set up a new password using the token. Please note that it can take up to 2 business days before receiving the token.
The SAM4 setup tool homepage
After logging in, the SAM4 setup tool’s home page is displayed. This page shows active network interfaces. The white tabs at the top of the page allow for navigation between the different interfaces. Clicking ‘Help’ offers troubleshooting solutions as well as a guided tour walking you through the setup tool.
Checking the connectivity
On the homepage, you can check in the “Connectivity” card if the connectivity is working and if there are no warnings. If there are warnings, click on the configure button and select your type of connectivity (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Mobile)
Choose your SAM4 connection type below for more information. If your connectivity is working as expected, click the next button.
