Ethernet cable tutorial
If the supplied Ethernet cables are not long enough, you can make/purchase longer Ethernet cables yourself. At least use a CAT. 6 Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cable and an RJ45 connector with ELA/TIA 568B straight cable wiring.
1. Position the cores in the RJ45 connector using the sequence below.
Notice Ensure color cables are inserted as far as possible to ensure the crimping is successful.
2. Clamp the RJ45 connector using an RJ45 crimp tool.
Notice The type of crimp tool is dependent on the cable type (UTP or STP). Check whether you are using the correct tool.
Ensure the cable sleeve is inside the plug and fixed after crimping. If someone pulls on the cable with an improperly connected sleeve the internal wiring can be damaged
3. Check whether the cable works correctly using an RJ45 pair tester.
