Install SAM4 current and voltage sensors as close to the motor as possible, ideally right at the wires exiting the cabinet / drive, after any power factor correction banks or similar equipment. This ensures the reading reflects exactly what the motor receives.
Notice: For star-delta starters, install before the main contactor instead, since the star-delta transition changes the current path to the motor.
The SAM4 current sensors should be installed between the thermal overload (O/L) and the motor (M), monitoring the current flowing to the motor.
The SAM4 current sensors should be installed between the Running Contactor and the motor (M), monitoring the current flowing through the autotransformer stages (80%, 65%, 50%) and the Shorting Contactor.
The SAM4 should be installed on the supply side, connected to L1, L2, and L3 before the contactors (K1M, K2M, K3M), monitoring the current as the motor transitions between star and delta configurations.
The SAM4 current sensors should be installed after the Bypass Contactor and the Back to Back SCR (Start & Stop) configuration, monitoring the current flowing to the motor (M).
The SAM4 current sensors should be installed between the VFD and the motor (M), monitoring the current flowing directly from the VFD to the motor.
The SAM4 current sensors should be installed between the output line reactor and the motor (M), monitoring the current flowing from the VFD to the motor.
